Alghero is a Catalan town on the north-western coast of Sardinia (Italy).
GETTING THERE
The local “Riviera del corallo” airport, is 10,5km away from Alghero center, by car. The airport has regular flights to and from many european cities, including flights operated by low cost airlines (Ryanair). Alternatively, frequent connections with major Italian airports are available.
ARST spa (the regional bus company) operates a bus service between the airport and Alghero. Click HERE for the current schedule.
Alternatively, taxies are usually available at the airport.
Olbia airport has regular flights to and from many european cities. Be aware though, that the distance of this airport from Alghero is 135 km and there is no direct public transport. The only possibilities in ordert to get from Olbia to Alghero by public transport is bus/train to Sassari (40 km) away from Alghero, and then change to Alghero.
DURING YOUR STAY
The surroundings of Alghero include nice beaches, the natural reserve of Capocaccia, which includes a marine and a terrestrial park, archeological sites, wineries. The historical center of Sassari, the archeological roman site of Porto Torres (the old Turris Libissonis) and the costal village of Bosa are also worth a visit.
